The most distinctive feature of this wine lies in its purity: the 2017 vintage marks only the seventh time in Grange's history that it has been made entirely from Shiraz (other vintages typically include a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon). South Australia experienced abundant rainfall in 2017, followed by a mild and cool summer. Under the rigorous selection of Master Winemaker Peter Gago, only the top grapes from the Barossa Valley (86%) and McLaren Vale (14%) were chosen, and, as always, aged for 18 months in 100% new American oak barrels.

2017 Tasting Notes: Elegant, Classic, and Restrained. Unlike the "blockbuster" power and muscularity of the 2015, 2016, or 2018 vintages, the 2017 vintage is generally considered to be a more cool-climate, elegant, refined, and classically restrained Grange.

Color: Deep, opaque ruby ​​red with a dark purple sheen. Aroma: While not as explosive as some of the hottest vintages, it is exceptionally pure and fresh. It exudes aromas of wild herbs, blackcurrant, blackberry, and sour cherry, interwoven with notes of smoky vanilla, coconut, dark chocolate, cocoa powder, and cedarwood from 100% new American casks. The mid-to-late finish subtly reveals complex lines of iodized salt, golden tobacco, and spices.

Palmistry: Full-bodied and mature, extremely silky. The palate is very creamy and full-bodied, with a rich fruity mid-palate, but the finish displays a lighter, more agile, and structured French elegance compared to previous vintages. The natural acidity and strong woody tannins are perfectly balanced, with a delicate minerality.
