What makes this wine truly special is that it's a "French blend with an Australian soul." Modeled after Penfolds' legendary Grand Coonawarra Bin 389 blend, it uses 52% Cabernet Sauvignon and 48% Syrah/Shiraz from the Bordeaux region of France, and is classified as a "Vin de France," a perfect tribute to the French soil that inspired Max Schubert's creation of the iconic Grange in 1950.

2022 Vintage Tasting Notes: Oak Aging: The wine was aged for 12 months in a blend of French and American oak barrels (40% new French barrels and 60% American barrels). This characteristic Penfolds cross-barrel blending imparts its unique and sweet signature character.

Color: Deep ruby ​​red with a purplish sheen, and a slight yellowish-brown tinge at the rim. The overall visual effect showcases the typical characteristics of a Cabernet Sauvignon and Sherry blend: high saturation, richness, and depth.

Aroma: Fragrant and complex. An enticing bouquet of ripe blackberries, red berries, and blackcurrants, accompanied by smoky oolong tea notes, licorice, dried vanilla, rosemary, and hints of toasted bread, cedarwood, and sweet ink/pencil shavings from French oak.

Palmistry: A blend of Bordeaux structure and Australian vibrancy. Cabernet Sauvignon provides a powerful, well-defined structure and bright acidity, while Syrah fills the mid-palate with a rich, round, full-bodied, silky texture.
